Getting from Venice International Airport to Venice Cruise Terminal

There are multiple options to get from the Venice International Airport (Marco Polo Airport) to the Venice cruise ship terminal (Port Marittima). They include cruise line bus tranfer, private shuttle bus, private town car, taxi and car rental. Below are the costs of the various modes of transportation between Venice cruise ship terminal and the Venice International Airport, and, some helpful advice for your consideration about each option. Check out all the transportation options -- you might be surprised about which mode of transport between the Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice Airport is the best value.

Taking a Water Taxi between Venice International Airport and the Venice Cruise Ship Terminal

Venice is a city developed over water, and also its means of transport are closely linked to water. You can choose either a water taxi or a vaporetto (the equivalent of a crowded city bus). The maximum capacity of a water taxi is 10 people. For suitcases over 10 people, further motorboats must be booked. The price remains unaltered up to 5 people; from €6 a €10 surcharge is applied per person.

Taking a Taxi Cab between Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice International Airport

Taking a taxi cab between the Venice International Airport and Venice cruise ship terminal will run (minimal) €11 for a 1-way trip (minimum of €14 during celebrations / festivals). If you have 5 or 6 people in your group, ask the dispatcher for a larger vehicle such as a Suburban. For a larger group, you are better off taking a Super Shuttle to the port.

Taking the Cruise Line transfer between Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and  International Airport

On average, cruise line transfers between the Venice Airport and Venice cruise ship terminal are approximately $40 per person, each way. A benefit of cruise line transfers is that they watch your flight for delays. Within reason, they may delay the departure of the ship if your flight is late.

Taking a Rental Car between Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice International Airport

There are many rental car companies with locations at the airport and near Venice (Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Hertz, and others). You can get a rental car between the Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice Airport for between €50 and €60. The rental car agencies have shuttles to take you to and from the ship.

Taking a Town Car between Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice International Airport

A chauffeur-driven town car between Venice Cruise Ship Terminal and Venice International Airport is the most stress-free option, though probably the most expensive. You do ride in a nicer vehicle and don't have to bother with waiting for other people to board. For 4 people going between the airport and cruise ship terminal, this is as economical as the taxi option. Larger vehicles (Suburbans) are available for an additional charge for larger parties.
